Why is my port inactive on my Nexus switch?

If your interface is in the following state, check to make sure that the VLAN that is assigned to the interface is configured on the switch. I found that Cisco switches will allow you to apply VLAN's that are not configured on the the switch. After adding the VLAN on the Nexus switch, my port went UP.

Nexus# sh int e2/3
Ethernet2/3 is down (inactive)
