What is the difference between Auto-NAT and Object-NAT

Postby admin » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:17 am

What is the difference between Auto-NAT and Object-NAT for a Cisco ASA firewall running version 8.3 and above?

Nothing, it is the same.

Auto-NAT is a 1 to 1 NAT, like a publice to private IP NAT

Here is the configuration to perform Auto-Nat on a Cisco ASA firewall

------------------------------------------------------
Auto-NAT Configuration
------------------------------------------------------

object network <Object-Group Name>
host <PRIVATE-IP>
nat (inside,outside) static <PUBLIC-IP>

When you perform a show run, it will display it in the following format.

object network <Object-Group Name>
host <PRIVATE-IP>

object network <Object-Group Name>
nat (inside,outside) static <PUBLIC-IP>
