How to view optic information on a Brocade switch?

If you want to know if there are SFPs inside a Brocade switch you can issue the following command.

Code: Select all
show media eth slot/port
show media


Here is an Example on an ICX-6430-C12


ICX6430-C12 Switch#show media
Port 1/1/1: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/2: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/3: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/4: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/5: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/6: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/7: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/8: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/9: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/10: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/11: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/1/12: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/2/1: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/2/2: Type : 1G M-C (Gig-Copper)
Port 1/3/1: Type : EMPTY
Port 1/3/2: Type : 1G M-SX(SFP) ---> this port has an SFP in it.

By adding "eth" and the specific port, you can view the type of SFP and Serial number.

ICX6430-C12 Switch#show media eth 1/3/2
Port 1/3/2: Type : 1GE M-SX(SFP)
Vendor: Brocade Version: A
Part# : 33210-100 Serial#: TAA11326FFFF
