Cisco Wireless Controller sending excessive traps

Postby admin » Tue Jun 25, 2013 12:34 pm

Cisco 5500 series wireless controller keeps sending an excessive number of traps. I kept getting the following entry under "Trap Logs". This is happening in 7.3.x code.

Client with MAC address XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX has joined profile <YOUR SSID NAME>

HP Open View received the following.

The SNMP trap ID is .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.599.0.2.6.4294967295. The Cisco MIB description is "This is the trap used when no other Cisco trap is configured." In the displayed event it only show an IP address. In the raw SNMP trap it looks like you get 3 MACs and 1 IP address.

This is a bug, Bug CSCUC12395 (You will need a CCO logon to view the details)
