Cannot set community string IP Mask to 0.0.0.0 Cisco 7.4

Postby admin » Tue Sep 24, 2013 8:40 am

On a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) I cannot set a community string with 0.0.0.0 as the IP Address and 0.0.0.0 as the IP Mask. It gives me the following error " Invalid netmask. Please enter the proper netmask "

The work around is to issue the following command from the command line.

Code: Select all
config snmp community create YourCommunityString

It creates the entry, but does not enable it. To enable it, you need to issue the following command

Code: Select all
config snmp community mode enable YourCommunityString

To create a Read-Write community string you need to make it a RW community string with the following command

Code: Select all
config snmp community accessmode rw YourCommunityString

*** The above command makes a Read-Only community string
***Make sure you replace YourCommunityString with your own private community string***
