How to configure the AP801 in a Cisco 881 router to be accessible from the network?
The topic of this post is regarding the AP and Router to communicate via Layer 3. By doing this, you should be able to communicate directly to the AP801 (Wireless Module) directly from a management station.

1. The IP address on the AP801 needs to meet the following requirements
- Utilize the native VLAN on the 881 router (Could be any router with a wireless Service-Module in it)
- Place the IP address on the BVI1 interface (Probably can use any # of BVI interface)

Code: Select all
interface GigabitEthernet0.10
 encapsulation dot1Q 10
 no ip route-cache
 bridge-group 10
 bridge-group 10 spanning-disabled
 no bridge-group 10 source-learning

interface BVI1
 ip address
 no ip route-cache
ip default-gateway

2. Configure the 881 router to make the default vlan 10 (You can use any vlan you want)

Code: Select all
vlan 10
interface Vlan10
 ip address
interface wlan-ap0
description Service module interface to manage the embedded AP
 ip unnumbered Vlan10
 arp timeout 0
interface Wlan-GigabitEthernet0
description Internal switch interface connecting to the embedded AP
 switchport trunk native vlan 10
 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,11,20,1002-1005
 switchport mode trunk
 no ip address

If you have another module and router that this works with, please reply so we can all benefit!!!
