Cisco 1242 upgrade to version 7.6

Postby admin » Fri Nov 07, 2014 3:46 pm

Can a Cisco 1242 Access point be upgraded from controller version 4.1 to 7.6? Odd question, but I half way expected it to turn the AP into a brick.

Yes, I moved a 1242 from a Cisco WiSM running to a Cisco 5508 running The AP downloaded the software and worked fine.

Before moving the 1242 to the WLC 5508 I did a factory default reset on the AP. When it came up, it pulled the new DHCP Option 43 and registered with the new controller. Some 1242's didn't complete the download if I didn't do a factory reset on it first.

It's my understanding that the 1242/1252 APs are not supported in version 8.
